What is Sound Healing and How Does it work?

Let Me Tell You More....

Sound healing and meditation are not some mystical woo woo, they are practical and tangible practices to improve your mental health and self awareness. Sound Healing is a form of therapy practiced across almost every ancient civilisation, it is rapidly gaining popularity as there is a growing interest in taking control of our own health through holistic, alternative practices.

It is Particularly effective if you find it hard to switch off (I have been there), the frequencies of sound synchronise with your brain waves, they start to slow down, as your body becomes more relaxed, your heart and breathe rate also slow down, signalling that it is safe to switch off and let go.

In my own experience I suffered with overthinking, overwhelm, anxiety, depression that pushed me into a breakdown as I could not connect with myself and face the pain I was trying to avoid. This is when I started researching as I refused to believe that this would ruin my life, I found breathwork, meditation and sound, this is when things started to change for me (that's a story for another day!)

But now here I am spreading the peace and freedom of mind these practices gave me, so if you haven't tried it yet I highly recommend you do.

What Does a Session Involve?

Sound Healing can be carried out as a private one to one session or as part of a group, you will lie down on a bed/cushion/hammock and made comfortable with blankets, pillows, maybe an eye mask. Remaining fully clothed, you will be guided through the session with meditation, visualisations, breathwork and a variety of sounds including voice healing. Instruments used:

    • Himalayan singing bowls of different frequencies
    • Crystal bowls of different frequencies
    • Drums
    • Ocean drum
    • Rain pole
    • Chimes
    • Gongs
    • My Voice

In a one to one session we will work through specific issues and the bowls will be placed on your body. I also use Reiki healing energy and can incorporate massage on request.

Sound Healing often creates a deep sense of relaxation, just keep in mind it can get a little intense too, you might find yourself feeling happy, sad or upset about what comes up for you. This can be part of your journey and its completely fine to cry during a session, it can be very releasing.

    The Science Behind Sound Healing

Research shows Sound Healing impacts us on a deep cellular level impacting brain, nerve, muscle and organ function. One study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based integrative medicine found that an hour long sound meditation helped people reduce tension, anger, fatigue, anxiety, and depression while increasing a sense of spiritual well-being.

When your brainwaves decelerate to a Theta state, your breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure all decrease. This supports optimal immune system function, lowers stress hormones, and prompts the release of positive brain chemicals.

''Sound Healing is such a calming and soothing experience, our lives can get stressful and chaotic, leaving us stressed and overwhelmed, so being able to relax, meditate and connect with ourselves and release any pent up emotions in a safe and loving space is absolutely essential to our well-being''
